AI Agent Device Control (Argent)
Argent by Software Mansion gives AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex direct control of iOS simulators, Android emulators and devices. Your assistant can build and launch the app, tap through screens, take screenshots, read logs and network requests, and profile renders, without you leaving the terminal.
The starter does not install Argent by default. It is opt-in, because it downloads platform-specific native binaries and is only useful if you work with an AI assistant.
Run the setup script from the project root:
bun run argent:setupThis runs the official Argent installer. It installs the argent CLI on your machine and configures the current workspace: the MCP server for your editor or assistant, plus Argent’s skills and rules.
Restart your assistant afterwards so it picks up the new MCP server.
Share the setup with your team
Section titled “Share the setup with your team”By default the installer configures Argent for your machine only. To commit a setup that every teammate gets on bun install, run the installer in local mode instead:
bunx @swmansion/argent@latest init --localThis adds Argent as a devDependency and writes the editor configuration into the repository. Commit the generated files.
Things to try
Section titled “Things to try”Once Argent is set up, ask your assistant things like:
- “Run the app on the iOS simulator and log in with any email.”
- “Check the settings screen in dark mode on Android and take a screenshot.”
- “Profile the feed screen and tell me which components re-render too often.”
- “What can Argent do?”
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Argent collects anonymous telemetry by default. To turn it off:
